Nexx X.Vilijord Taiga
Initial impressions are excellent, the helmet feels really sturdy and is beautifully finished. It really does look and feel very much like a high-quality helmet.
Whilst I adore my AGV K6 Secret helmet, I rather fancied a touring helmet now that I have the Multistrada V2, and I also like the idea of a modular helmet so I can flip the whole front up out of the way.
After considering a few options, I decided to get the Nexx X.Vilijord. I initially thought about the Pro Zero version in lovely carbon fibre but I'm not really a big fan of black helmets all the time and the Taiga in white/red is a great-looking helmet so that's the one I've gone for.
All of the reviews I read and saw said that unfortunately, a PinLock lens isn't included with the helmet so I bought one to go with it.
Well, I can now tell you that the helmet actually does come with a PinLock 70 lens in the box so now I have a spare, possibly for a Photochromatic Visor at some point, as they look really good.
Read on to see what I think of the helmet...
What I think of it
Initial impressions are excellent, the helmet feels really sturdy and is beautifully finished. It really does look and feel very much like a high-quality helmet.
Here are some pictures of it:
As mentioned above, the helmet does come with a PinLock 70 lens and it also comes with a top camera mount, a side camera mount and a peak extension.
I've fitted the PinLock and camera mounts but I haven't bothered with the peak extension as I don't have a need for it and to be honest, it feels a little flimsy and nothing like the integral peak which is solid and sturdy feeling.
I find the helmet quite difficult to put on and take off unless I open the chin-piece, I'm not sure if this is a standard thing with modular helmets because I've never had one. It's not exactly a chore to flip it open before putting it on or taking it off anyway.
When on, the helmet fits snugly and is very comfortable, again you can feel the quality here. It's a nice thing to wear. The visibility is excellent with the chin-piece closed and the inner flip-up/down sun visor is dark enough and easy to operate.
The helmet is homologated so is legal to use with the chin-piece open as well as closed which I like the idea of, certainly in hot weather at low speeds through villages and so forth.
There are plenty of vents that are also easy to operate and the weight of the helmet isn't so bad. Coming from my AGV K6, this thing weighs a lot in comparison as the K6 is an extremely light helmet, but once it's on it feels good and doesn't feel that heavy really.
The colour scheme is nice with an interesting graphic design with a satin or semi-gloss finish, it will hopefully aid in being seen by other road users as well. The little red accents are nice and look well with my Ducati.
I think it's a high-quality, really good-looking helmet and overall, I'm very happy with it so far. I will update this blog after spending more time and more miles with it.
