Fitting a used Multistrada Top Case

The genuine Ducati Multistrada Top Case is a fine-looking piece of luggage with a 48-litre capacity that attaches to the rear of the bike with a fitting kit consisting of a mounting plate that is sandwiched around the rear grab handles and is supported by two arms that connect under the rear of the bike.

I bought a pair of brand new panniers and new red covers from a chap in Stockport and he threw in a used but good condition top case, completely free.

The top case kit retails for around £500 - 550 so getting the case for free seemed like an absolute bargain.

Unfortunately, it wasn't as easy or cheap as I'd expected, as you'll understand as you read below.
