Ducati Tank Pocket Bag

Ducati Tank Pocket Bag

I've thought about getting the tank pocket bag for my Multistrada V2 for a little while after finding that the handlebar bag isn't all that big.

I still find the handlebar bag really useful for keys and so forth but I think it'd be nice for a bit more room to put my gloves in as well as a few other items.

The Ducati Tank Pocket Bag (Part no: 96781601A) product description is:

Useful accessory with semi-rigid structure and 6-litre capacity to store mobile phone, wallet, documents and other personal belongings. Equipped with a system for quickly coupling/releasing from the tank cap, and an upper smartphone pocket. Practical rain cover included in the kit. A perfect accessory to keep all your essentials at hand at all times.

The tank pocket bag retails for £130.97 and requires fitting with the Tanklock Flange Kit (Part no: 96780281A) which retails for £21.49.

The product notes do mention that the tank pocket bag is not compatible with the handlebar bag (Part no: 96781651AA) so I may have to switch from the handlebar bag to the tank pocket bag instead of using both.

Used bag on eBay

I spotted a used bag on eBay with a Buy It Now price of just £39.99 (£42.74 with P&P) - bargain.

Missing flange

The tank pocket bag arrived in good condition, just as described. However, the bag was missing the flange needed to fit it to the bike. Thankfully, this isn’t an issue since the flanges are made by Givi and are easily available.

I picked up a Givi TankLock Bag Flange - Universal (Part number: ZT480F-2R) from Nippy Normans for just £13, including postage.

I also managed to pick up a new Tanklock Flange Kit (the part that attaches the flange to the bike) for £19.99, saving a bit of money there too.

Power Extension Cable with USB Port

The tank pocket bag also came with the Power Extension Cable with USB Port (Part number: 96680441A), which retails for an eye-watering - and frankly ridiculous - £111.49.

I’m really pleased that this was included with the bag - it’s an absolute bargain at that price.

Handlebar Bag

As noted above, the tank pocket bag isn’t compatible with the handlebar bag, so I’ve had to remove it - but that’s totally fine. The additional space in the tank bag more than makes up for it, offering plenty of room for essentials. Plus, the Power Extension Cable with USB ports (three, in fact) will be incredibly handy for charging action camera batteries while on the move.

I initially thought the tank bag might feel like it’s in the way while riding, but it doesn’t at all. It’s a great addition to my bike’s luggage setup and is incredibly handy for storing essentials like my keys and wallet. It’s much better than having my pockets weighed down with stuff.
